Horii Shichimeien Todou Mukashi review

Horii Shichimeien matchas are notoriously hard to get, especially a popular powder like Todou Mukashi.

So I was excited to finally got my hands on a tin. A split second after my initial sip, I was met with the rush of umami that Todou Mukashi is famous for. However, I was a bit disappointed with how fast the umami faded. It didn't linger on the tongue like I was hoping.

Like all Horii matchas I've tried, the brew is exceptionally smooth. Todou is rich and brothy. No bitterness, slight sweetness, moderate astringency.

Overall, I'd recommend Todou Mukashi to anyone who loves umami in the matcha, but it may not be worth the high price, import fees, and long wait time.
