Pistachio note actually delivers
Hukuju has a clear pistachio/roasted nut character. As a latte it pairs really well with whole milk, and the nutty notes get amplified rather than masked. There's a subtle sweetness on the finish. Not the highest umami matcha I've had, but the flavor profile is distinctive enough that I keep going back to it. About a week and a half on a 20g tin for me.
Pistachio matcha?? actually yes
OK I was skeptical when I read "pistachio" on the description because that sounds like marketing fluff. But it really does taste like that?? I had a Yame phase last year and Hukuju is one I keep coming back to. Smooth and a little sweet on the finish. My one gripe is I wish it was a bit more umami-heavy.
