Nice neutral flavor + blood pressure benefits
I was attracted to Gabaron after hearing about the potential blood pressure benefits, since mine is borderline high even though I'm young! Apparently they grow the leaves using a method developed by the Japanese NARO Institute of Vegetable and Tea Science. This increases the gamma-amino butyric acid content which is supposed to lower blood pressure. It's too early for me to tell if it's working but I like the taste! It's a pretty neutral taste with some umami and sweetness. It's reminds me of a dulled down version of Kinrin. Hopefully the blood pressure part works! I'll try to remember to report back and update the review..
Really good and reasonable price!
I tried Kettl Hakusan at a friend's house and loved it immediately so I bought a can for myself. It has a nice smooth and rich flavor. There is not a ton of umami when mixed with milk as a latte but enough for me. It's more noticeable when prepared with just water. I don't like overwhelming umami. It also has some bitterness but it is also not overwhelming and I feel like it complements the flavor really well. Also the price is pretty reasonable for good matcha these days. $1 per gram beats the fancy cafe any day of the week!
