Expert Review
TL;DR
A surprisingly rich, brothy matcha packed with umami and offered at a reasonable price.
Prepared as
I purchased Rocky's Single Cultivar Okumidori on a whim, as I needed one more tin to get free shipping. My expectations were low given it's "affordable" price ($1.40/gram) relative to other offerings from Rocky's.
What I tasted on the first sip surprised me. It started with a subtle sweetness, then built up to a rich, balanced, full-bodied umami flavor. The aftertaste was pleasant as well. A slight astringency that coated the mouth with virtually no bitterness. It was the kind of flavor profile typically associated with matchas at a higher price point.
I can't comment on Rocky's koicha grade claims on their site, but it worked beautifully as usacha. And a beautiful, vivid green brew color as well? We have a winner.

Niceee Okumidori
I came in a little hesitatnt because I don't have much okumidori experience but Rocky's kind of won me over!! The umami actually comes through in a way I wasn't expecting, deep and savory with a green, almost herb vegetal note that lingers nicely. Astringency shows up more than I'd like. Sweetness is pretty limited here, which honestly suits it with the strong umami. At $1.40/g it's on the pricier end for something out of my normal preference (mostly Yame and nutty flavor), so I don't see myself buying it again anytime soon, but still really enjoyed it!
