Hand-picked Asahi and Uji-Hikari in the blend give Chiyō-Mukashi its nuance, and the tea is soft and notably savoury as koicha. Six growing towns feed it, shaded 20 to 40 days, and the finished tencha is dried over binchotan charcoal before grinding. The name means A Thousand Years.
